Week 4

WOW what a busy week we have had in Room 8!

On Monday we started something really exciting with the whole Year 3/4 syndicate. It is called "Thinking Skills" and once a week we will get together to do some great activities to help us to think about a variety of things in different ways. This week Mr Dobson talked about a man called Tony Ryan who came up with some 'keys' to unlock our creativity! He introduced us to the 'What if" key. We were shown a crazy cartoon of people living under ground and we thought about What if we lived under ground? We put on our thinking hats: our Yellow hat- What would be the benefits of living under ground? Our Black hat- What would be the bad points? and our Green hat- what other creative ideas can we come up with as solutions to a problem with living under ground?
It was great fun and really got us thinking!

We are starting to get settled into our Reading and Maths rotations for the term.
For Writing we have created a class Imaginary Recount called "Room 8's Holiday!"

We have finished up with our Inquiry: Growing a Friendship. Check out our galaxy of Values below! Next week we are looking forward to starting a new Science Inquiry on Growing a Plant.

To top it all off we had Whacky Hair day on Friday!! Everyone got involved and there were some elaborate and exciting hair do's floating around the school and the Eastbourne pool!

I hope all the Room 8 children have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

I like the sound of these Thinkers Keys you have been learning about room 8! I'd be very interested to hear what creative ideas you came up with.

Hello Mr Skilton,
Thank you for your comment. Last week with Mrs Chao we used the What if key. Our question was What if all cars turned into skateboards? We thought a good point would be it is easier to ride for children. We though a bad point could be you could have more accidents. Another good thing would be you would save money on petrol.

I hope you like our ideas,
Marten, Louis and Juilus.
