It is very interesting to find out from Kate that you are looking at slimy creatures. When I saw this You Tube video on your classroom blog I thought there was no way a snail could slide over a sharp knife and not be cut, so I have learnt something new today too. But what I would like to know is how is it possible that the snail does not get hurt? Kate tells me she thinks it is because of the slime on the snail, it protects the snail from getting cut. How amazing snails are and how clever Kate is for knowing that! Do you think she is right?

Ouch!If I was the snail that went over that knife I would of had a cut at the bottom of my foot.

I really liked the little video of the snail - I didn't know that snails could slide over sharp things. This enquiry on slugs, snails and worms is really interesting - I found a baby snail in our garden this afternoon. I found him when I was looking for an empty flower pot for one of my Autumn bean plants, he was on the bottom of the pot. Isobel & Karen Cochrane

It looks like your study of slugs, snails and worms is going to be fascinating.
Did you know that snails are part of a team of creatures called Gastropods. Gastropod means "belly footed animal" which suits the snail very well as snails only have one foot.
Can anyone in the class share any other interesting facts about slugs, snails or worms? Does anyone know what they like to eat? If you know what to feed them, you might be able to have some pet snails visit the class.
I look forward to reading about all your interesting discoveries..
